Our client, a well established manufacturer of machined power transmission components for aerospace and industrial applications in Warren Michigan is looking for a Lean Manufacturing Engineer to lead their lean manufacturing efforts..

This opening is an opportunity to lead Lean transformation at an established and profitable company.

They are  looking for a person with production experience in a machine shop environment, who is ready to exercise their leadership skills and mechanical aptitude to help transform an already profitable business into an exceptional business.

The client is a low volume / high mix manufacturer of customized Aerospace and Industrial clutches. There are a variety of machining processes used every day in this factory including turning, drilling, milling, tapping, cylindrical and surface grinding, form grinding, heat treatment, laser cutting, laser marking, assembly, testing,  painting and packaging. Our company is in its infancy in Lean implementation, so there is much opportunity to make a difference.

The focus is:

  • cellularization
  • set-up reduction
  • structured problem solving
  • workplace organization
  • visual controls of work centers

Our approach is built around the upgrade of our machines and processes to enable 1-piece flow. Experience in the focus areas above is required.

Applicant requirements:

  • Must already have had Lean training
  • Must have turning and grinding machining knowledge
  • Must have strong hands-on mechanical abilities
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be positive, upbeat and influential
  • Must use the above for Kaizen leadership with excellent staff support for breakthrough results
