 Our client specializes in the production and sale of injection molded fittings for Irrigation, Plumbing, Industrial, Pool/Spa and Retail markets. A technical leader with over 50 years experience, they are relied upon worldwide to provide the confidence users desire. They have an immediate need for a Director of Manufacturing Engineering with the following background.
 

Oversee and direct in-plant engineering functions related to injection mold tooling design, build and repair, manufacturing processes, injection molding processes, the facility, and plant maintenance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with company policies and objectives.
  • Provide expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives.
  • Manage overall engineering budget and costs.
  • Provide execution oversight for the important development, test, and evaluation efforts.
  • Provide input and lead improvement of internal company procedures and processes.
  • Develop major goals to support broad functional objectives.
  • Take initiative to explore, promote, and implement innovative technologies.
  • Research new technologies to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Drive processes development to optimize efficient process flow, reduce process or product variability, improve process capability and improve employee safety.
  • Coordinate maintenance, engineering and process development initiatives to ensure increased collaboration and efficiencies.
  • Coordinate preventative and predictable maintenance activities as it relates to production enhancements.
  • Ensure effective interdepartmental relationships to meet the assigned goals of the organization.
  • Develop programs and solutions to reduce/eliminate equipment breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with the production department on the scheduling of downtimes for repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve reliability.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee operations and personnel in mold tool engineering, manufacturing engineering, injection mold process engineering, tool prep, mold base repair, and maintenance.

 

Qualifications: Knowledgeable of Excel, Word, Outlook software. Knowledge of machine shop techniques. Basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge of machinery.

 

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline. Masters degree preferred. Eight or more years of experience in leadership of engineering department. Plastics manufacturing and maintenance preferred.

 

Language Skills: Reading skills sufficient to understand complex documents. Writing skills sufficient to explain complex information. Verbal skills sufficient to explain complicated information/instructions.

 

Mathematical Skills: Must have skills sufficient to analyze and interpret data and statistics compiled or presented to the department for use in performing essential engineering functions.
