World leading manufacturer of automotive plastic and rubber  components has immediate need for an applications engineer.

APPLICATION ENGINEER – THERMOPLASTICS

 
Summary:
The Application Engineer is the primary technical point of contact to the customer and must maintain a strong presence for client.  They must build effective relationships with engineering, quality and plant personnel.  They are expected to identify new technologies where client can add value to electric vehicle systems including battery, e-motor, and inverter systems.  They are expected to support customer timing and program deliverables through the use of open issues lists and project timing.  They are responsible to review, analyze, and communicate all technical information from and to client product engineers and account managers to ensure that customer deliverables are met.  They must challenge both the customer and client to ensure the best solution for both parties are being made.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or equivalent)
Ability to travel 20%-30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Aggressive self-starter with strong organization skills and attention to details requiring minimal supervision
  • 2-5 + year’s application engineering experience with polymers (plastic) and / or elastomers (rubber)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to multi-task with project management experience
 
Job Duties: 
DESIGN
  • :
  • Make recommendations for quality improvements from analysis of warranty parts and data
  • Report results of field investigations and assembly teardowns
  • Work with associated client and customer organizations (materials engineering; tribology and lubrication; CAE; program management; etc.)
  • Support component program management meetings with:
  • Maintenance of open issues list
  • Assist in formal problem resolution with client plant quality personnel
  • Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and VA/VE
 
COMMUNICATION
  • As supplier representative, provide customer with pertinent client contacts at laboratory or plant for design, manufacturing feasibility, quality or materials concerns
  • Arrange appropriate meetings of above
  • Relate client business or product plans to customer as needed
  • Prompt reporting and follow-up of corrective actions to quality problems with client product
  • Provide market information as provided via benchmarking
  • Provide catalyst to ensure correctness and timeliness of customer responses by eliminating communication roadblocks within capabilities of and customer
  • Ensure timely response and liaison to customer requests including:
    • Quality issues
    • Test reports
    • Investigation reports
